Our Trip Into Longview

image Tuesday, we were up about 6am and headed out to Longview about 6:45am. The sun was just barley coming up as we traveled east on I-20 which is also known as the Ronald Reagan Memorial Highway. Sandy nor I knew this until we saw for the first time a sign posted just out of Canton.
We stopped in Kilgore at a Whataburger right off I-20 for breakfast and their inside decor theme was Elvis Presley and that music era. Not all franchises have a theme for their decorations so I guess it depends on the person who opens the franchise. We have been in several that have NASCAR, one that has NFL Dallas Cowboys and one with sports cars and old motorcycles as themes.

We arrived at the VA Clinic about 9:30am thirty minutes prior to my first appointment with the nutritionist and afterwards I saw my VA doctor. We were in and out by 11:30am. Being close to lunch time we headed to a Juices hamburger restreaunt before heading back to the motorhome in Canton. We had intended to go to Tyler but Sandy had a flare up with her gallbladder which nipped that idea in the bud. Joe, the Mexican food restraunt that serves the good cheese enchiladas is not El Tore's as previously reported its Gilberts El Charro. Sorry about that .

Today we finished setting up our booth and our RVing crowd has started arriving as early as Monday. It looks like all the RV spots may be taken. There are sill some spots at the creek side and over at the circle. Woody who owns a 42ft Holiday Rambler Imperial and is a vendor here came over and asked if I knew of any RV Service Repairmen that made calls to the grounds. It seems his Dometic refrigerator has quit working. We gave him several numbers and one did come out and found that it had burned up. It seems the issue that Dometic issued a national recall on had not been addressed. Woody called his dealer and asked why didn't he get the recall letter and they didn't have an answer for him. Hope he gets a new one without cost. Fortunately it didn’t catch his motorhome on fire.

Sandy’s gallbladder flare up is a lot better but she is having to watch what she eats and drinks for a while. One of our neighbors from the Lufkin area just arrived and we helped her unload her trailer and setup her booth.

Lady Baylor Bears 51-Duke 48

Those Lady Baylor Bears manage to do what the Baylor men could not do. They beat the Lady Duke Blue Devils and made it into the Final Four. The thing that is so amazing is they did it with freshmen and sophomores. Brittney Griner caught a pass, spun around and hit a short jumper with 45 seconds left to propel fourth-seeded Baylor to a 51-48 win over No. 2-seeded Duke for its second trip ever to the Final Four.  What a game………go Lady Bears!

The weather here at Canton has almost been perfect even though we had very high winds on Saturday and Sunday. I have managed to get that detail bug again and spent most of the past two days outside doing different cleaning chores on the motorhome. It sure felt good reorganizing and cleaning out the bays. I also cleaned the inside of the bay doors and afterwards 303 all the door gaskets and inside the door panels.

Carla Pumpkin We learned today our neighbors across the way will not be coming back to Canton after this month. We sure hate to see that but understand their reasons. They are like family and we will miss them.

Tomorrow we are up early as we have to drive into VA Longview for my doctors appointment at 10am. Hope to learn what they have decided on the sleep apnea test I took about three weeks ago. We will probably make our monthly trek to Tyler afterwards. I want to eat at El Tore's Mexican food restaurant. Their cheese enchiladas are among the best I’ve eaten.

Until next time….MtnAire Travlers.

Arrival At Canton

011

We arose early as we wanted to have breakfast at Arnold’s with BIL James. We were on the road to Canton by 7:30am arriving without incident about 10am. The kind of trips we love. The traffic seemed to be very light for I-20 not near the number of eighteen wheelers we usually see on our trip. We stopped at the Loves Truck Center to empty our black and gray water tanks.  On our drive there were signs of spring everywhere. The fruit trees are in full blossom and the leafs on the trees are budding.Blog2 Photos20090323 009 Won’t be long and we will see that green pollen stuff all over everything. After arriving and getting setup Sandy did her pink jobs and I did what blue jobs there were since we don’t have sewer and water at our spot. This afternoon I worked some more on the aluminum wheels. Sandy made a trip to Wally World for some groceries.

After a pizza dinner we settled in to some NCAA men's basketball games and Sandy did a little reading. Boy, did Baylor blow out St. Mary's. We are at the Sweet Sixteen level which is when my interest in March Madness kicks in.

While reading blogs the other evening I noticed how interesting it was that fellow bloggers Retired Rod, Tin Teepee/Log Cabin and The Bayfield Bunch all seemed to arrive back at their homes about the same time. We really enjoyed reading your journals and the pictures of your visit to the Great Southwest. We are looking forward to them again next winter.

Until next time….MtnAire Travlers.

Old Man Winter Still Has A Strangle Hold

old-man-winter Winter is having a difficult time of letting go. Boy, did we have a system roll through here last night. Lighting, thunder, wind and heavy rain for the most part of the night was his game. Today the wind is out of the west 20-25 mph with gust 30-35 mph. Our low tonight is suppose to be 38F. Sure glad we washed the motorhome yesterday (thanks Sandy for your help). I had left my stool on the roof as I wanted to get back up there today to 303 the vents, satellite dome and AC shrouds. With the weather like it was I only went up to retrieve the stool. The rest will have to wait tell it gets a little warmer. We are making preparations for our move to Canton tomorrow. After First Monday, we are thinking we might travel to Camping World Ft. Worth TX to have them service the new refrigerator we purchased from them  last year about this tine. The three year warranty calls for this service in order for it to remain in  effect.

On Monday Sandy’s sister Pam and her husband dropped by on there way back home and visited a while. They had been in Atlanta TX visiting Mike’s mom in the nursing home there. We had lunch at the Wildflower in Hugh Springs with BIL James. Afterwards we moved some more branches and tree limbs to the burn pit.

Tuesday we went into Longview as I had an appointment with VA to have my monthly PT/INR level checked and afterwards we ventured over to Wally World for supplies. Picked up med at Walgreens for her mom.

Wednesday was just a beautiful spring day. Like I mentioned earlier a day for washing the motorhome. Sandy washed and I dried. It took us a little longer as we also 303 the tires and I waxed on the aluminum wheels. Will wrap this project up after we get to Canton.

This pretty well brings us up to date on our week so far. Really been exciting hasn’t it.

Our sunset yesterday evening.003

A Visit By Our Youngest Son Tim

tims visit 2010 021 Tim our youngest son along with his friend Melanie paid a visit to us this weekend. Unfortunately, the weather did not corporate as it rained and snowed all weekend. But, we did not let that discourage us. We watched a marathon of DVD movies (a total of five altogether). Lets see we watched The Proposal, Raising Helen, An Unfinished Life, Did You Hear About The Morgan's, and Knotting Hill. Did you noticed all of these were about about couples and romance….. No action or westerns I wonder why? The movie that everyone seemed to like and voted as the best was The Proposal with Sandra Bullock. Melanie brought along two huge bags of her home made peanut butter and ranger cookies that we were able to munch on during the movies. Sandy prepared two excellent dinners for us and the lunches were sandwiches and dips.

tims visit 2010 026 Sunday morning we woke up to snow. We had breakfast at Whataburger in Mt Pleasant and sent them on their way back to Austin TX. I wished the weather had been better as we had plans to show them the sights and sounds of Northeast Texas. But, in a way the bad weather and staying inside helped us learn a lot about them. Tim brought us up to date on our granddaughter Kaylea who turns 16 in May. She is very athletic and smart he tells us. Her volleyball skills probably will get her a scholarship at some college. We are so proud of her.

On our drive imageback to Lone Star I took this picture and at first glance it reminded me of the Aspens you see in Colorado. Only these were pines with snow that has collected only on one side due to the 25-30 mph wind out of the northwest. By the time we arrived back to the motorhome it had stopped snowing.

tims visit 2010 004 Earlier in the week we helped BIL James  remove two huge pine tree stumps from the yard and polished off the remaing leaf piles by burning them in the burn pit. Things are shaping up for what looks  like might be a great spring around here. If the weather history repeats itself this should be our last of cold weather which traditionally occurs before Easter weekend. (Click on any picture to enlarge)

image

The fruit trees in the area are already blooming and by Easter weekend we should start seeing the Dogwood trees popping out with their blooms.
P.S.The snow has started up again. It is getting larger and there is more of it.

For The Fur Kids

I received this from a dear friend and felt I had to share it with all our blogger friends with pets.

What A  Dog!

Thought  everyone should know about this dog and his story.
Especially like the ending ......
A  Pet's Ten  Commandments..........
Be sure to read them  too.

unnamed

The K9 above is Brutus,  a military K9 at McChord.
He's huge - part Boxer  and part British  Bull Mastiff and tops the scales at 200  lbs. His handler took the picture. Brutus is  running toward me because he knows I have some  Milk Bone treats, so he's slobbering away! I had  to duck around a tree just before he got to me  in case he couldn't stop, but he did. Brutus won  the Congressional Medal of Honor last year from  his tour in Iraq .. His handler and four other  soldiers were taken hostage by insurgents.  Brutus and his handler communicate by sign  language and he gave Brutus the signal that  meant 'go away but come back and find me'. The  Iraqis paid no attention to Brutus. He came back  later and quietly tore the throat out of one  guard at one door and another guard at another  door. He then jumped against one of the doors  repeatedly (the guys were being held in an old  warehouse) until it opened. He went in and  untied his handler and they all escaped. He's  the first K9 to receive this honor. If he knows  you're ok, he's a big old lug and wants to sit  in your lap. Enjoys the company of  cats.
K-9 Congressional  Medal of Honor Winner
Thought  you'd find this interesting.
Talk  about animal intelligence and bonding  with humans!

A  PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS.........
1. My life is likely  to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is  likely to be painful.
2.. Give me time to  understand what you want of me

3. Place your trust in  me. It is crucial for my  well-being.

4. Don't be angry with  me for long and don't lock me up as punishment.  You have your work, your friends, your  entertainment, but I have only  you.

5. Talk to me. Even if  I don't understand your words, I do understand  your voice when speaking to me.

6. Be aware that  however you treat me, I will never forget  it.

7. Before you hit me,  before you strike me, remember that I could hurt  you, and yet, I choose not to bite  you..

8. Before you scold me  for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if  something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not  getting the right food, I have been in the sun  too long, or my heart might be getting old or  weak.

9. Please take care of  me when I grow old. You too, will grow  old.

10. On the ultimate  difficult journey, go with me please. Never say  you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this  alone. Everything is easier for me if you are  there, because I love you so.

~Take a moment today  to thank God for your pets. Enjoy and take good  care of them.

Life would be a much  duller, less joyful experience without God's critters.

Until next time….MtnAire Travlers.

Happy St. Paddy's Day

!cid_image001_gif@01CAC5BB Happy St Patrick's Day to all our Irish friends and those that are not Irish. I got pinched this morning at Arnold’s . Yes, I forgot to put green on. Sandy was off to Atlanta, TX  this morning with her sister Pam. They were picking Mike’s (Pam’s husband) mom up to take her to a doctor in Texarkana, TX. Sandy is real good in her ability to deal with the doctor’s and knows the right questions to ask. She comes by this naturally as she is the main care giver of her mom and also helps me with my mom.

This afternoon I was setting outside trying to get pictures of the different birds in the area next to the motorhome. Those rascals don’t light long enough for you to take pictures. About the time I aim and get ready to shoot they are gone. While out there I heard several crows or perhaps grackles really making a ruckus. They were cawing back and forth. Soon others joined in and really made a lot of noise. I tried to see if I could see them and find out why they were so loud in their cawing. Never did see them in the thick trees where the noise was coming from. Being an old city boy I had no idea what this was all about so….when my BIL James returned from his job I asked him about this. He said…..”probably there was a hawk in the area and they were calling all their buddies in to chase him off”.

photo I also found this information on the internet “Crows chase hawks and owls for the same reason that mockingbirds chase crows: to purge their territory of a potential predator. Crows especially hate Great Horned Owls, their main predator, and take particular delight in harassing these hapless raptors as they nap during the day, often calling in friends to participate in the chase. The few predators that crows, especially fledglings, might face (besides unfriendly humans) are raptors. Adult crows often participate in a behavior known as mobbing, in which they drive the threatening bird out by chasing it en masse. This may also be a means of demonstrating to young crows "this is what trouble looks like."  If interested  click here for more information.

Spring Forward and Yard Clean Up

My favorite time of the year is when we spring forward to Daylight Savings Time. Not only does it mean Spring is just around the corner but our daylight will be longer where we get to enjoy the outside more before it gets dark. Sandy and I were up early this morning 5:30 am (still was dark outside) and had breakfast at Arnold’s with BIL James. Today's special was one egg, two beacon and one toast for $1.75 ea. image And, it was a good thing we had a good breakfast as Sandy (I must confess did  most of the raking) and I spent a good part of the day raking leaves, pine cones and sweet gum balls into piles like this. Over all we had about 25 piles similar to this one. Later her brother came by with his tractor and we loaded all those piles into his bucket on the tractor and hauled them to a burn pit on his property. Afterwards I got the lawnmower out and scalped the yard pretty close in order to get rid of the dead grass from winter. We are now officially ready for spring. image
We still have about four or five piles left in the back yard that we will address later in the week. We both were just to tired to mess with them today. This was pretty much our most active day in quite awhile and we could really tell it . Sandy and I both had some blisters on our hands in Image11 spite of both using gloves and in the morning I’m sure some muscles will be telling us we out did ourselves. But, it makes one feel good when you accomplish a task such as this one.

The Making Of A Deer Blind Part II

image BIL James knocked on our door about 8 am this morning wanting to know if I wanted to with them to the deer lease. They were going back out to check the hog fence they put up two weeks ago and do some clearing of the low tree branches. I joined them and upon arrival at David’s deer stand we saw the fence was still intact and there was no signs of entry by wild hogs. You could see signs were deer had been inside the fenced in area eating the corn. So, the plan as laid out so far was working. However, to reinforce the fence they wanted to drive in some smaller T-bar posts to help stiffen the fence.image

They also worked clearing some small trees and low hanging branches for a clear view from his deer stand to the fenced in area where the feeder will be located. The tree for the Capture IR game camera was also picked out and they placed the mounting bracket around the tree for later installation of the camera. He told me this camera costs about $250 and I asked him if he was worried about theft . He said you just have to trust your fellow man but he plans to install stainless steel cable with lock to be on the safe side.

image While setting on the ATV I noticed how peaceful and tranquil this area really was. You could hear the wind rustling through the pine trees, now and then the noise of jet aircraft above,  and at a distance cars running on a nearby highway. I said to myself….”Now this would be a wonderful spot to put up a hammock between two trees and just lay there looking up at the sky and enjoying the peace and stillness this area brings”. Here are some other photos I took:

image image We returned to the motorhome around 2 pm and I noticed that Sandy’s Christmas Cactus had blooms on it. I said “I thought this would bloom only at Christmas time”….. she replied “no it also blooms around Easter time too”. Now I find that very interesting Christmas time is when our Savior Jesus Christ was born and Eastern Time is when he arose again after dying for our sins. Now if that won’t make your day nothing else will.

March Winds

image Those winds that blew Al with the Bayfield Bunch to Yuma have finally arrived in Northeast Texas. Our constant winds have been 15-20 miles per hour with gusts up to 30-35 mph making it very uncomfortable outside. We were very blessed as we had very little damage from the hail storm we had the other evening. I found maybe two or three small dents in the roof that could have been from the hail but no way of really knowing. My BIL David did suffer several dings on the roof and hood of his Dodge truck. We were talking to several old timers at Arnold’s yesterday morning and they said several areas in Lone Star where hit with much larger hail stones.

image Yesterday I helped (more of an observer) BIL James remove a huge oak tree stump since it was close to one of his driveway entrances. You would not believe the size of the root system. I bet it was at least six-eight foot in diameter and they dug around it with his back hole and tractor. They then hook a chain around the base of the trunk and attached it to his tractor while on the opposite side lifted the trunk with the shovel of the back hole. After several tugging and lifting the trunk came out of the ground. I would have had pictures but the battery in my camera died.
I asked James if he would burn the huge trunk like the other wood and he said….. “no I am going to dig the hole deeper and bury the trunk upside down in the same hole we pulled it out of.” Here is the end results.
image

Now he will be able to use the circular driveway into and out of his property. Each day brings him a little closer of getting the property cleared where someday soon he will start on his home.

We made our weekly journey into Longview this morning to get groceries and pick up meds for Sandy’s mom. Her blood sugar has improved and we will watch what she eats a little closer. While in Longview, I received a call from my sister advising my mom had fallen going to bed last night and the policy of the assisted living place was to take her to ER for a check up. We got good news back this evening and she was back in her room at Rosemont. She has bruising and about a 4 centimeter cut on her left arm but no broken bones. We are sooo blessed.

Ever seen a common house cat attack a deer?

BAM! BAM! BAM!

image Yes, that was the sound we heard this evening when a severe thunderstorm passed through with hail some about the size of a golf ball. In fact within about a one hour period we received twenty one of these MORRIS SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING alerts.
Our roof is fiberglass and I’m sure that amplified the sound of the hail hitting the roof. But, let me tell you this is probably the largest hail we’ve experienced since being in this area.hail 31010 006  Sandy’s brother David called and asked what should we do? Naturally there is nothing one can do with the RV when one of these roll through. I first thought about spread eagling myself over the roof but I knew that wasn’t going to work… he he. We don’t know how much damage our roof and sides of the motorhome suffered but will check it out in the morning.
This was the back yard during the hail stormhail 31010 003

image The storm passed through as quick as it came. This was our sunset this evening. Our weather radio is still going off as I write this entry and its for those counties Northeast of us and into the neighboring state of  Louisiana. It’s been reported on the Weather Channel that Texarkana had baseball size hail from this same storm system. We are truly blessed.

We had a scare this afternoon when Sandy received a call from her mothers Senior Citizens housing manager advising they had called EMS to her mothers unit. Seems at the time someone said her blood sugar measured over 600 which was not correct at all. It actually was 307 which is high but not 600. The EMS didn’t know where the 600 figure came from. They were satisfied that she was not in immediate danger and they left. We will be working  on her Mom’s sugar level.

Like Old Family Week

image Yesterday we were up early had breakfast at Arnold’s and drove to Longview for supplies. On our way in we stopped on the side ramp of the Lake O’ The Pines bridge and observed these Coots feeding. There were probably close to a hundred of these just swimming around in a large flock. Click here to learn more about these unusual  water birds.Common_Coot

Our morning started off with a cloud overcast and it wasn’t long before the winds picked up and the skies opened up. It rained all afternoon and into the night. This was from the same system that rolled into California several days ago and the system that gave the desert of Arizona mentioned in Elli’s blog yesterday a cleansing. We really didn’t need that much cleansing here as we’ve had so much rain this winter.
In Longview we checked with Sandy’s sister Pam and the Goldwing motorcycle I mentioned yesterday is now officially Mike’s. I’m sure it won’t be long before they plan a touring outing with his brother's and their wife's. About a year ago they all went to Northern Arkansas for a three day touring trip. Oh……to be young again…… sigh!

image Sandy’s younger brother David is due to have rotor cup surgery on his right shoulder later this month.Since he will be down for about three months and have his therapy close by he moved his Discovery over yesterday from Texarkana, TX. They are parked on the west side of us so its been like old family week around here. David also owns a fishing boat and just maybe there might be some fishing done between now and the time of his surgery.

This afternoon the cloud cover gave away to beautiful clear blue skies with lots a sun. We need this to help dry out all the rain we’ve had these past few days. However, they say we will have another system blow in from the West tomorrow. This has some possibilities of severe weather in it. It’s getting close to that time where I need to apply the Klasse wax treatment to the motorhome. I need to wash it first and then if the weather holds up start the two part application. This is like waxing it twice but the end results is well worth it.

I am really proud of the way Sandy has decorated the inside of the motorhome. She has really made the place take on that warm country look. Believe it or not with the exception of the steering wheel table, we travel down the road with all this stuff out. Thanks to command strips, scoot pads, tacky stuff and the Spartan Air Ride Chassis. I should also add Sandy is the primary driver. Here are just some of her warm touches.

The Making of a Deer Blind

Making of a deer blind 002 Over the weekend I was invited to go with my two BIL’S, James and David to their new deer lease about 15 miles from the motorhome. They each carried their four wheelers and I road behind James as his ATV had a buddy seat. They had just made arrangements to lease the four hundred acres and wanted to start fixing up their deer blinds and feeders. The ride over to one of their sites was through some heavy forest mostly pine trees. As you can tell from the photos the pine trees are siblings as they are not the typical tall pine tree seen here in Northeast Texas.Making of a deer blind 004
Upon arrival they proceeded to unload hog fence wire and t-posts  as they were going to build a hog fence around the feeder to prevent the wild hogs from eating the deer corn they would later put out. The deer can jump the fence but the hog can not.

Making of a deer blind 011
Here is where they are driving one of the t-post into the ground with a t-post pounder. The area they fenced in was about 75ft long and about 30ft wide. The deer feeder would be placed inside the fenced area and is located about 75yards from the deer stand. They also have installed a game camera to take photos of anything (hopefully deer) that came up to the feeder. Most cameras come with a strap that allows it to be hung from a tree and a lock to prevent theft. It will automatically take a picture when it senses motion. Each image is stamped with the date and time it was recorded. The game camera will usually function day and night by sensing game out to around 45 feet. Their hoping to catch a photo of one of these in the camera.350px-White-tailed_deer
We spent about two hours getting the fence up and will go back next weekend to put up the feeder and stand. Me being from the city has never hunted before but, just maybe with this lease being so close to home I might get an invite to go this season. If anything to set and watch the game as they approach the clearing. Maybe take some interesting photos and not trophy's.
Final installation of the hog fence. image
image   When we got back my SIL Pam and her husband Mike dropped by on their new to be Gold Wing motorcycle. Boy what a class bike.  Their helmets have built in mike/  speakers so they can not only communicate with one another but listen to their radio or MP3 player. They do some touring as well as this part of Texas offers great weekend trips for motorcycle enthusiasts. Yesterday before noon we had a group of about 25 touring cycles drive by probably headed for Jefferson TX. I told Sandy since she was my designated driver now maybe we ought to get us one and tour the country side with them. Her reply was LOL.

ZZZZzzzzzz’s At VA Shreveport

This morning Sandy let me sleep in late while she was up early and out with her brother James for breakfast at Arnold’s. Today is my travel day to VA Shreveport for the Sleep Apnea Screening tonight. While I was eating my bowl of cereal I received a call from the VA Coumadin Clinic and got some good news about my blood PT/INR. It has finally reached the goal of 2.5 and they won’t have to check it quite as often now. She did tell me they would check it again in two weeks and if it remains the same I would only need it checked once a month.

image Even though I didn’t have to be there till around 8pm, Sandy I left for Shreveport around 1pm. Sandy wanted to do some shopping and I wanted to go to the Bass Pro Store in Bossier City. Also there was the matter of finding a places to eat lunch and dinner. If we were great gamblers like some of our friends we would also hit the slots at the Casino’s. Maybe another time when our friends go again.

We arrived at Bass Pro about 2:30 spent about one hour wandering through the maze of hunting, fishing and outdoorsmen stuff. We enjoyed the huge indoor image
13,000 gallon aquarium with the largest catfish and gars that I’ve ever seen. Afterwards we traveled to the large strip center for some shopping at Best Buy, Bird & Bath, Super Target, Marshalls and Wally World.

About 6pm we eat our dinner at Golden Corral and after filling ourselves with steak, shrimp and other goodies headed out to VA for my sleep in. When we got their we had to go in at the Emergency entrance as the rest of the hospital was buttoned up. We checked in a the Sleep clinic exactly at 7:30pm where I filled out several forms about me and my sleep habits. The nurse who was in charge asked me if I was ready for bed then and naturally I said no, so she said she would come back and get me around 10pm.

About 9:35 she came to get me and asked if Sandy was going to spend the night. We told her yes, so she took Sandy to a waiting room that had lounge chairs for her to set and sleep in. Afterwards she hooked me up to a monitoring devise around my chest area, a nose tube and a probe on the finger and said goodnight see you in the morning at 4:30am. What! I said and she replied “I plan to have you out of here by 5am as I go off duty at 6am”. Well let me tell you sleep I did not do much of. The bed was very uncomfortable (rubber pad) the stuff on me would get caught on some body part when I turned. So, what should have been about 7 hour sleep turned out to be only about half that.

Sure enough 4:30am rolled by and she had me up and Sandy met me in the hall and off we went on our return trip to Lone Star. I don’t know when I will hear the results but she said their was another test they would do if this one showed any signs whatsoever of Sleep Apnea.Sandy and I both were completely worn out. Upon arriving back at the motor home we both crashed and slept for a couple hours.

Until next time….MtnAire Travlers.

Great News!!!

2215 3rd ST Galena Park TX  We finally closed on the sell of Mom’s house. I can’t believe it but its been just about one year from this month we placed it on the market. I can not tell you how relieved the family is and what a journey we have had for the past twelve months. We went through some tense nerve shattering days but that is all behind us now.
Now our Mom will be able to stay a little longer at her new home Rosemont Assisted Living. We were very fortunate as our realtor agent was able to arrange for the closing at Mom’s assisted living facility. As most of you know she is wheel chair bound and my sister due to her major surgery earlier this year has really been shut down. Thanks to my younger brother, Ward who stepped in and represented us at the closing. Now that we have that behind us wfireworks_16xte all can celebrate and relax knowing that our mom can enjoy her days as long as the good Lord is willing.  When I called her to let her know the funds had been electronically transferred to her bank account I detected tears and joy on the other end.  For 92 years young she is quite a fighter and has really mastered her scooter that has become her only way of getting around now. Also a special thanks goes out to my cousin Barbara Jean who goes by every week and checks on Mom's needs. Our family is so blessed to have friends and family that places special interest and love toward our mom.

image Last but not least I must thank my dear wife, Sandy for being by my side and doing a lot of the leg work. Without her the road would have been a little more bumpy. She is also an angel to my mom. Here is a photo taken this last Christmas at Rosemont. Thanks dear for being there for me. You mean so much to Mom.
